Mumbai: A shameful incident has come to light from Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra. A 5-year-old girl was raped by an AC mechanic in the lift of a residential building here. Thereafter, the police arrested the criminal. Officials said the incident took place on Tuesday evening in the Taloja area. 

Police said that the 19-year-old criminal had reached here on Tuesday for AC repair work. When he was coming down the stairs after completing the work, he saw a five-year-old girl playing in the parking area, after which he took her to the lift and carried out the incident. 

Regarding the same incident, the girl's mother says that after getting out of the lift, she came home and started vomiting. When asked, she narrated the incident, after which she went downstairs with the child and with the help of the guards caught hold of the AC mechanic. Thereafter, the police reached the spot and took the culprit into custody. Officers said that a case has been registered against the culprit under sections of the POSCO Act. The criminal has been sent to judicial custody by the court.
