Lucknow: Former Samajwadi Party (SP) MP tax mafia members Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf were shot dead in police custody on April 15, 2023, by three assailants. After which, many leaders like Akhilesh Yadav and Asaduddin Owaisi have started looking for a Muslim angle in this and are inciting Muslims by saying that the government is doing encounters on the basis of religion. However, earlier, when gangster Vikas Dubey had an encounter, no one called him a Hindu or a Pandit; people of all classes saw him as a criminal. At the same time, the leaders looking for a Muslim angle in the murder of Atiq-Ashraf should also see that the poor Muslims have become the most vulnerable victims of the terror of these mafia brothers.
Information has now come to light by quoting the UP police records that the people of the Muslim community, including both brothers, were also harassed a lot. Cases were registered against these two mafias on many charges, like murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, fraud, threatening, and land grabbing, but no action was taken against them due to political protection. According to the report, there is a long list of Muslims among those making allegations against the mafia brothers in the police records. According to the police, out of the top 20 illegal cases against Atiq-Ashraf, 13 were registered by the Muslim community. Not only this, Atiq's brother Ashraf is also accused of kidnapping two minor Muslim girls from a madrassa and raping them at gunpoint. After this, Ashraf himself threw the rape victims, Muslim girls, at the gate of the madrasa the next morning.
The police have also told that the living example of Atiq's brutality is his attempt to capture the land of Zeeshan, who lives in Kasari Masari. Atiq had Zeeshan's house razed to the ground with a JCB to take over Zeeshan's land. Zeeshan says that he was attacked by Atiq's goons and threatened to pay Rs 5 crore as extortion. Along with this, Atiq Ahmed was also accused of the murder of municipal councillor Ashfaq Kunnu. Along with this, Atiq also fired at Municipal Councillor Nasan. This councillor was once close to gangster Atiq. The dispute between the two started when Naasan raised his voice against Atiq's highhandedness. Police said that Nasan's body was gunned down by Atiq in Chakia in 2001.
It is also recorded in the police records that, in 2003, the murder of BJP leader Ashraf was also done by Atiq. Ashraf's house was situated just opposite Atiq's house in Chakia. Atiq had said that the BJP leader and his brother have the same name, and Ashraf had teased him by working for the opposition party in this matter. The most surprising thing in this is that after killing Ashraf, Atiq's henchmen ran away with his dead body. Today, the leaders who are provoking the minority community by referring to the murder of Mafia Atiq as the murder of a Muslim should remember that criminals are not SEZs of anyone; when they run the mill of crime, every common man gets crushed in it, whether he is Hindu or Muslim.
