Srinagar: The murder of Sarpanch Shabbir Ahmad Mir in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has come to light. Banned terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen is said to be involved in the crime. According to media reports, a terror module of the outfit has been busted in this case and the Kulgam police have recovered incriminating material including 2 pistols. Three associates of the terrorists have also been arrested. This information has been given by IGP Kashmir.

According to IGP Kashmir, vehicles used in the incident have also been seized. During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that the Sarpanch was killed by Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Mushtaq Yatoo at the behest of Hizbul Mujahideen chief Farooq Nalli. Earlier on March 12, five terrorists were killed in three separate operations throughout the night in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.  

Police said that two terrorists of Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) were killed during an encounter in the Chewakalan area of Pulwama. One of them has been identified as Pakistani Jaish commander Kamal Bhai, who was active since 2018. Inspector-General of Police, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said that security forces carried out joint operations at four to five places on Friday night in which two Jaish terrorists and two LeT militants were killed. Security forces have also arrested one terrorist alive. Encounters in Handwara and Pulwama are over. One more terrorist has been killed in Ganderbal.
