New Delhi: At least 40 people were killed in riots in the capital. More than 200 have been injured. However, now the situation is gradually becoming normal. The Rajdhani Police has filed 167 cases till 29 February, in which about 36 cases have been registered under the Arms Act. Till Saturday, 885 people have been detained or arrested in the case of riots. 13 cases have been filed against the accounts that posted the riot on social media platforms.

The capital government is also considering releasing a WhatsApp number for citizens. On this number, people will be able to give information about the hateful content being circulated on social media. Secondly, on the basis of the notification issued by the Directorate of Education, Government of Delhi, all the schools in the district including private institutions have been closed till March 7. Since, CBSE has said that the exams for class 10 and 12 will start as per the schedule scheduled from March 2.


Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal visited the North East District Magistrate's office on Saturday and inspected relief work. He also said that there was no incident of violence from any part of the national capital on Saturday. He said that no government school was set on fire during the violence. The first priority of the government is to restore normalcy.

Pradeep Tayal Sub-Divisional Magistrate informed that forms were distributed to avail the help of Rs 25,000 to provide immediate relief to the riot-affected families in the Shiv Vihar area. In a statement released on Friday, Delhi Police confirmed that 26 dead have been identified. An attempt is being made to identify others. 22 victims died due to fatal injuries, while 13 people have died due to bullet injuries. Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain said that more than 200 people injured in the violence are being treated in various hospitals in Delhi.
