Dumka: A construction worker named Shahrukh Hussain tried to kill a Hindu girl by pouring petrol in one-sided love in the Dumka district of Jharkhand. The girl lived in the neighbourhood of his house. She has been identified as Ankita Kumari. She is a student of the 12th standard. After the incident, Ankita was admitted to Phoolo Jhano Medical College Hospital in critical condition. Administration officials said after meeting the victim that many parts of Ankita's body were burnt in the incident. In the photos that have surfaced, Ankita's hand and face are seen burning badly.

According to media reports, Ankita was sleeping at her house on Tuesday morning. Then Shahrukh Hussain came to her house and poured petrol on her from the window and set her on fire with a matchstick. Earlier, he used to harass Ankita coming and going. He had also taken Ankita's number from somewhere, after that, he used to call her and ask her to be his friend. When Ankita scolded her for constantly getting calls, Shah Rukh threatened her and said that if Ankita did not listen, he would kill her.

Ankita says that after informing her father about the threat on phone calls, she went to sleep in her room, but when she opened her eyes in the morning, she smelled burning and had back pain. There was a fire in front of me. She was scorching. Panicked, she went to her father's room. Where the family extinguished the fire and took her to the hospital. Doctors there said Ankita's body suffered 90 per cent burns. Police have taken immediate action in this incident and arrested Shahrukh Hussain.
