New Delhi: A public interest litigation has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking setting up of an SIT to probe the atrocities on Kashmiri Pandits and Sikhs in the 90s in the Kashmir Valley. The NGO "We the Citizen" has filed the petition in the top court. The petition seeks rehabilitation of the displaced persons.

Kashmiri Pandits have once again sought justice from the country's Supreme Court to probe the 1989-90 genocide on March 24. Kashmiri Pandits' organisation 'Roots in Kashmir' has filed a curative petition in the top court seeking a re-investigation into the matter. In its order in 2017, the top court had dismissed the review petition saying it was difficult to gather evidence after 27 years of the massacre. But now, the fresh petition filed in the court says that if the 1984 riots (Sikh riots) can be investigated after 33 years, the same is possible in the case of Kashmiri Hindus.

At the same time, CRPF DG Kuldeep Singh had said in a press conference on March 17 that several CRPF camps were running at the homes of Kashmiri Pandits. I think the atmosphere is conducive for visitors to come, but as far as Kashmiri Pandits are concerned, they need to decide for themselves.
