In a statement, Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani said, "Amethi in Uttar Pradesh was assumed to have no infrastructure as the Gandhi family "did not serve" it for five decades but "ruled" it. In fact, Smriti Irani had to digitally inaugurate the 'Seva Samarpan' initiative of Desiya Seva Bharati, an NGO affiliated to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). "She could not attend the organization's conference in the morning due to internet connection problems, as she was in the interior sit-in of Amethi where internet network is "a struggle", he said.

He also said, "Development like internet connectivity has not reached all families there.'' He also said, "I was in the interiors of Amethi, network connectivity is a challenge in some villages there. Many had assumed that the Gandhi family ruled this constituency for five decades and not the service of this constituency, so no infrastructure would be required here. Smriti Irani also said, "However, the struggle to join you (Seva Bharati) today must have made you aware that under his (Gandhi family) leadership, development in his own constituency did not reach every family.''

She further said that 'she was able to attend the online conference very late. In order to ensure development in all parts of the country, she is going from village to village to find out what the needs of the people are.'
