Amritsar: The ongoing infighting in the Congress party in Punjab is not taking the name of stopping. Till now, CM Charanjit Singh Channi and state unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu were face-to-face. But now senior Punjab Congress leader Sunil Jakhar has also opened a front. Sunil Jakhar on Wednesday claimed that after Amarinder Singh stepped down as chief minister, 42 MLAs were in favour of making him the chief minister, while there were only 2 MLAs in favour of Channi.

However, Sunil Jakhar later while talking to the media also said that he is not the CM face in the Punjab assembly elections 2022 and supports Channi. But by then, opposition parties had started attacking Congress by quoting his statement. After Sunil Jakhar's video went viral, opposition parties targeted Congress. It is being told that the Congress is run by the people sitting in Delhi and it lacks internal democracy.

Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Daljit Singh Cheema said Jakhar's statement exposed the fraud that the Congress high command does in the name of internal democracy. Daljit Singh Cheema said the internal democracy that the Congress talks about is just a sham and it still runs on the dictatorship of the Gandhi family.
