Sunil Jakhar to give more pain to Congress right now, many big leaders ready to join BJP

Chandigarh: By inducting Sunil Jakhar, who was the president of the Punjab Congress unit, into the party, the BJP has made a major difference in punjab's politics. Not only that, now the BJP has started putting the door on some other leaders. Sources said two senior Congress leaders are also in talks with the BJP high command and may soon be part of the saffron brigade. The defection may take place before the by-election to the Sangrur parliamentary seat. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was the MP from this seat and he resigned from here after becoming cm. The date of the by-election has not been fixed at the moment.

Sources close to these leaders said that discussions are currently underway with the BJP. A senior Congress leader said, "Efforts are being made by the Punjab Congress to strengthen itself. Even after this, there are some leaders who no longer see their political future in the party and are engaged in the search for alternatives. Among them are some former ministers, who were part of the previous Congress government. But now they are looking for options outside the party. A BJP leader said the coming few weeks will be crucial for the BJP in Punjab.

The BJP leader said that some MPs or former MLAs may take on the BJP. But only time will tell how many and which leaders join the party. Party sources said, the BJP may use Sunil Jakhar to create a split in the Congress. Just last week, Sunil Jakhar broke off his 50-year-old ties with the Congress and joined the BJP. He had been neglected for several months and the party had removed him from every post while taking disciplinary action against him.
