New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered the closure of cases related to the Babri demolition and Gujarat riots. The Supreme Court has said that there is no justification for many petitions filed regarding the Gujarat riots. In such a situation, the proceedings on them are being closed. The Supreme Court said that trial has been completed in 8 out of 9 cases of Gujarat riots. Along with this, the court has also ordered to close the contempt case related to the Babri demolition.

In fact, the apex court has ordered to close the contempt proceedings against lawyer Prashant Bhushan and journalist Tarun Tejpal in the Babri demolition case. Both have apologised in this case. Let me tell you that Prashant Bhushan accused former and current judges of corruption in an interview in 2009. Advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for the case, said that Prashant Bhushan and Tarun Tejpal have apologized. Therefore, the case against both can be closed. His demand was allowed by a bench of Justices Indira Banerjee, Surya Kant and MM Sundresh.

Let us tell you that notices were sent to Prashant Bhushan and Tarun Tejpal in November 2009. Prashant Bhushan clarified on this, saying, 'In the interview, I gave to Tehelka in 2009, the word corruption was not used for any particular thing. I said this in a broader context. It has nothing to do with economic corruption. If any judge or his family has been hurt by this, then I apologize for it.'
