New Delhi: Today, the top court has given a big decision on the final year exam in universities. The top court has made it clear that the students will have to give the final-year papers. However, it has also been said that in the states where the Disaster Management Act is in force, the state government can postpone the paper if desired, but it must be done.

The court clarified that no student will be promoted without the final year paper. In fact, the apex court has justified the University Grants Commission (UGC) decision to conduct final year examinations. The UGC had decided to conduct these examinations on 30 September. A three-judge bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan has given this decision.

The apex court said that the UGC should conduct final year exams for the students, but under the Disaster Management Act states can postpone the examination in view of the epidemic. Also, the court said that no state can promote final year students without final examination, as ordered by University Grants Commission (UGC).
