Chennai: A huge chariot of a temple at Papparapatti in Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu overturned, killing two people and injuring three others. Police has given information in this regard. The accident happened while taking the decorated chariot of Kaliamman temple on the surrounding roads during Vaikasi festival.

A senior police officer has said that the chariot suddenly overturned and two people lost their lives after being crushed under its wooden wheels. He said that the devotees pulling the chariot and the people present immediately rushed to the rescue. He said that three other people who were injured after being buried under the chariot have been admitted to the hospital. The deceased have been identified as C. Manoharan (57) and G. Shravanan (50). CM Stalin has expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.

In Chennai, he said four people were injured in the accident and were undergoing treatment at the Dharmapuri Government Medical College Hospital. Along with this, in addition to the assistance amount to the families of the two killed, Stalin has announced financial assistance of Rs 50,000 for the injured persons. This money will be provided from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund (CMPRF).
