Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has informed the Madras High Court on Wednesday and said that as per the suggestion of the court, the government is considering to change the residence of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to Poise Garden as the official residence of the Chief Minister. They said that the idea is to change only the official residence of the Chief Minister and not as a memorial. The Poise Garden Kasturi Estate House Honors Association had opposed the petition to convert the residence of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa into a memorial.

In this regard, Advocate General Vijay Narayan informed the court on behalf of the government. In the petition, the association also said that if it is converted into a memorial, then thousands of people will start moving here every day. This can hamper the peaceful life of the area. While speaking on behalf of the association, advocate Maithili said, people, are also not in favour of changing it into a memorial. Judge N. Anand Venkatesh has dismissed the petition. He kept his point by rejecting the petition. He said, 'It is not new to convert the residence into a memorial."

Apart from this, he also said, "It has happened many times in the past, leaders who have earned people's love and respect. As far as a large number of people are concerned when the memorial is built, the association knew in advance that she was a big leader".
