Like every year, this year also the auction of Balapur Ganesh Laddu was held on this Sunday. Minister Sabita Indra Reddy and former MLA Tigla Krishna Reddy also participated in the auction. Rama Reddy, who won Balapur Ganesh Laddu for Rs 17.60 lakh in 2019, was also present at the auction event. In this auction, Marri Shashank Reddy, a resident of Nadargul, along with Ramesh Yadav, MLC of Cuddapah district, won the laddu for Rs 18.90 lakh.

As per the rules, the local people who get the laddus in the auction have to pay the money next year. Whereas non-locals have to pay on the spot. The auction did not take place last year due to the outbreak of Kovid-19. This year the auction was held in a grand manner amidst seven dhol drums of full gaiety. After the auction procession of Balapur Ganesh idol took place, people thronged the streets of Hyderabad city to watch the huge rally of the idol. The procession covers a distance of 17 km till Hussain Sagar and immersion will take place.

Laddu is one of the most popular offerings to Lord Ganesha before the village festival of Lord Ganesha. Balapur village is located at Maheshwaram in Rangareddy district of Telangana state. Ganesh Laddu is auctioned here every year to Vinayak Chaviti. Devotees from all over the state come and win this laddu on the highest bid in the state. Due to this Balapur laddus became very important. The devotees were convinced that the laddus of Balapur would bring good luck in every way.
