Telengana: Anumula Revanth Reddy, the leader of the Telangana Congress, has tested positive for the coronavirus. The Malkajgiri Member of Parliament (MP) stated he was experiencing moderate symptoms and advised those who had come into contact with him in the previous few days to take measures. Revanth Reddy was stopped by the police twice in the last week from attending a farmers meeting in the villages of Bhupalpally and Siddipet district, where he was supposed to interact with farmers who were having problems because their paddy was not procured by the government and hold protests over the issue.

"I tested positive for covid and am experiencing mild symptoms. Please take the required precautions (sic) if you have come into contact with me in the last few days." Revanth Reddy sent a tweet on Monday, January 3rd. On Friday, December 31, the president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) was placed under house arrest to prevent him from travelling for Bhupalpally to participate in a 'Rachabanda' programme. Revanth Reddy's house in Jubilee Hills was surrounded by cops. According to the police, the show did not have approval.

Revanth Reddy slammed the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government on Twitter. Later that day, he urged the Director General of Police (DGP) to file a complaint against state Minister KT Rama Rao for holding a public meeting in Nalgonda under the Disaster Management Act. He said that police detained him illegally at home under the Disaster Management Act, but KTR was allowed to hold a protest in Nalgonda.
