Uproar in Karnataka after Muslim youth's murder, appeals to read jummah prayer at home

Bangalore: Tension has erupted after the murder of a Muslim man in Surathkal in Mangalore, Karnataka. Police said, a man named Faizal was attacked and killed with a sharp weapon in Surathkal in the southern part of Karnataka. The situation in Mangalore has become tense after the killing of the youth, following which police have been deployed at every corner of the area. The police have also imposed Section 144 in many parts. The police requested people from the Muslim community to offer jummah prayers at their homes today.  

Mangalore Police Commissioner N Sasi Kumar said that at around 8 pm (on July 28), 23-year-old Faizal was attacked by 4-5 unidentified miscreants near Krishnapura Katipalla Road in Surathkal. Faizal was immediately taken to the hospital. Where the doctors declared him dead. The Commissioner further said that a case has been registered at Surathkal police station. Further, Section 144 of CrPC has been imposed at Surathkal, Mulki, Bajpai, and Panambur.  

Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar said, "We are recording the statement of the eyewitnesses. who was with the deceased during the incident. A case of murder has been registered at Surathkal police station. Keeping in view the sensitivity of the situation in small areas in Mangalore, we have imposed Section 144.''
