New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi is going to inaugurate the newly constructed building of Parliament on 28 May. The monsoon session is expected to be held in the new Parliament House itself. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla met PM Modi on Thursday (May 18) and requested him to inaugurate it after the construction work of the building was completed. The new Parliament House has been completed in less than two and a half years. On this day is also the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Veer Savarkar.

According to the statement of the Lok Sabha Secretariat, PM Modi will inaugurate the newly constructed building of Parliament on 28 May. The newly constructed building of Parliament, where on one hand it will work to further enrich India's glorious democratic traditions and constitutional values. At the same time, this building equipped with state-of-the-art facilities will help the members to perform their functions in a better way.

Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha had requested the government on August 5, 2019, for the construction of a new building for Parliament. After this, on 10 December 2020, the foundation stone of the new Parliament building was laid by PM Modi. The newly constructed building of Parliament has been completed in record time with quality. Arrangements have been made for the meeting of 888 members in the Lok Sabha and 384 members in the Rajya Sabha under the new Parliament House. The present building of Parliament has a seating arrangement of 550 members in the Lok Sabha, while 250 members in the Rajya Sabha.
