Hollywood actor Fred Ward has passed away. The actor breathed his last at the age of 79. The actor's death has been confirmed by his publicist Ron Hoffman. However, the cause of Fred Ward's death is not yet known. The actor is always going to be remembered for his work. Recently Fred Ward appeared as Eddie Welcorro in the second season of HBO's 'True Detective'.

Fred Ward has been awarded the prestigious award like golden globe. The actor was also awarded the Venice Movie Festival Award for Robert Altman's 'Short Cuts'. Apart from this, he played the character of Remo in 'Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins'.

It was his first American film. He also gained popularity in the year 1979 when he worked in the film 'Escape from Alcatraz'. After  this, Friend played the role of Mercury 7 Astronaut in the movie made on Tom Wolfe's book 'The Right Stuff' in 1983.
