PRAYAGRAJ: The transgender community watched the movie "The Kerala Story" on Friday at a multiplex reserved by the UP Kinnar Welfare Board and state head of the Kinnar Akhara, Kaushalyanand Giri, commonly known as Tina Maa.

Tina Maa claimed that the transgender community was the worst affected by religious conversions. "While we've been taking steps to stop religious talk and 'love jihad' among females and the transgender community, this is the first time we're hosting a special showing of a film that addresses the issue.

We will keep telling our community members and girls about the ill-effects of 'love jihad' and religious conversions," Tina Maa said.

"Religious conversion is a sensitive issue and should be handled diplomatically and quickly," she said. Religious conversions have historically had the greatest negative impact on the transgender population. The Kinnar Akhara is seriously addressing the matter and has welcomed a few transgender people who have converted back into Hinduism.

In addition, she asserted, "I have launched a national campaign to prevent religious conversion among the transgender community, and over 32 of us have already converted back to Hinduism after converting to Islam." She added that she was confident in her ability to launch the campaign on a war footing and examine this practise at the local level.

She said that 'The Kerala Story' has turned out to be an eye-opener for the society and everyone must watch it. "It is necessary to launch a widespread awareness campaign on the delicate matter. People need to be aware of the truth and the events occurring in Kerala and elsewhere, she said.
