Tamil Nadu : On Thursday, October 7, the authorities of neighboring states like Kerala and Karnataka have also joined hands with Tamil Nadu forest officials to nab the suspected man-eating tiger for the 13th day. The campaign was launched after four people, and several cattle were killed in Gudalur, Masinagudi and Singara areas in a span of 14 days. The search operation has been intensified to catch the tiger. To assist the teams, two Kumki elephants and three sniffer dogs were also sought along with a modern drone to trace the location and speed of the tiger.

Sixty forest officials divided into five teams, five doctors, 25 camera traps (mobile cameras), one net gun, one paper gun and seven tranquilizer guns have been installed in the dense forest between Masinagudi and Theppakadu. . Similarly, to attract the tiger, the cows were tied so that the veterinarians could use darts to pacify them, forest department sources said. The department has also appealed to the people not to venture out, especially in the operational area, to prevent the tiger from coming out of its hideout.

Meanwhile, the Madras High Court on October 5 ordered Tamil Nadu forest officials to capture the tiger alive and not kill it as it cannot be a man-eater. The bench also said that it is important that the tiger is caught alive in view of the poor population of tigers in India. Chief Wildlife Warden Shekhar Kumar Neeraj assured the court that measures were being taken not to capture the tiger but to kill it.
