Hyderabad: In a heart-wrenching incident amidst heavy rains, two innocent lives were lost and two others left grievously injured when an aged wall collapsed in Babul Reddy Nagar, situated within the jurisdiction of Rajendranagar Circle under the purview of the Mailardevpally police station. The deceased, identified as Noor Jaan (aged 8) and Asif Parveen (aged 3), were innocently playing near the precarious wall when it succumbed to the weight of the downpour.

The collapse proved fatal for Noor Jaan and Asif Parveen, who tragically lost their lives on the spot. The injured children were swiftly rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention. The bodies of the deceased were subsequently transported to Osmania Hospital to undergo post-mortem examinations, as confirmed by Mailardevpally Inspector P. Madhu.

The locality of Babul Reddy Nagar houses several migrant families hailing from Bihar, Odisha, and other regions, who are employed in nearby industrial sectors. Approximately 15 families reside in the area, dwelling in structures that exhibit signs of aging and deterioration, posing imminent risks of collapse. Understandably distraught by the tragic incident, local residents have raised concerns and urged immediate intervention from the relevant authorities to prevent similar mishaps in the future.

Promptly responding to the calamitous event, the police have registered a case and commenced an extensive investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the wall collapse, thereby ensuring accountability and preventing such disasters from recurring.
