Guwahati: International cow smugglers, Akbar Banjara and Salman from Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh have been killed in an encounter in Assam. Both were arrested by the Meerut police on April 13. After this the Assam Police took them with them. Now the news is coming out that both these cow smugglers have died due to bullet injuries late on Monday night.

It is being told that on Monday (April 18, 2022) both tried to escape from the police custody. During this, he got shot by the police in the encounter. Some reports are telling that the Banjara gang had attacked the police vehicle to rescue them. In retaliation, both the smugglers were shot. According to media reports, the Assam Police had declared a reward of Rs 2 lakh on Akbar Banjara.

Assam Police has said that the attack took place at 1.30 pm. Both the accused were being taken by the police near the Sankosh river in Jomduar area, so that the smuggling routes could be identified. But then there was firing on the police vehicle. The policemen immediately came out of their car to retaliate. Assam Police fired for 10-12 minutes to nab the accused. During this, both the cow smugglers became victims of firing. By the time the police took them to the hospital, both had died. Police have recovered An-47, 2 magazines and 28 cartridges from the spot. Police have told that these accused also had links with terrorist organizations and Pakistani agency ISI.
