UK registers highest single-day Covid-19 death toll with 1,041 deaths

London: Corona is wreaking havoc all around the world. UK is facing the new variant of corona which is more infectious and the reason behind the increasing  The UK Department of Health reported a further 1,041 coronavirus-related deaths on Wednesday, the highest daily toll seen in the country since April. The death toll now stands at 77,346. April 8 was the deadliest day since the start of the corona pandemic, with 1,072 people dying with COVID-19.

In view of coronavirus, England went into its third lockdown on Wednesday morning, in an effort to curb the spread of a more transmissible strain that was found there in December.

The overall number of global coronavirus cases has surpassed the 87 million mark, while the deaths have surged to more than 1.88 million, according to the Johns Hopkins University. In its latest update on Thursday morning, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the current global caseload and death toll stood at 87,150,958 and 1,881,926, respectively.
