KIEV: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dymtro Kuleba said that there has been no agreement with Russia on the four areas of dialogue proposed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

"Regarding the four points indicated by the Turkish President, there is no agreement with Russia. Ukraine's only official language is Ukrainian, and it will stay so in the future. In general, categorising important discussion themes into four points, or any other number, is ineffective "On Friday, Kuleba told Ukrayinska Pravda.

Erdogan told reporters earlier in the day that Moscow and Kiev were near to reaching an agreement on four issues: Ukraine's NATO membership, recognition of Russian as the second official language in Ukraine, demilitarisation, and collective security.

The Turkish leader said that the Russian demands on the future status of Crimea and the eastern Donbas region remain the most significant point of contention in negotiations. Erdogan extended his offer last week to bring the leaders of Russia and Ukraine to Turkey to make final judgments on these issues.

Kuleba also told Ukrayinska Pravda that his country's delegation to the Russian peace talks has adopted a firm stance and is not backing down from its demands. He emphasised that Ukraine's first priority is a ceasefire, as well as assurances of security and territorial integrity.
