LUCKNOW: The chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, has ordered the suspension of five PWD officers. This comes just after the Special Duty Officer of department minister Jitin Prasada was fired over claims that there had been irregularities and violations of the transfer policy.

According to a statement, those suspended included Manoj Kumar Gupta, the department's chief engineer and engineer in chief (development). The other representatives are Principal Assistant Sanjay Kumar Chaurasia, Senior Staff Officer Shailendra Kumar Yadav, Administrative Officer Pankaj Dixit, and Chief Engineer (Project and Planning), Rakesh Kumar Saxena.

They have been the subject of a disciplinary investigation, as per the statement. The action was taken shortly after Jitin Prasada's OSD (Special Duty Officer) Anil Kumar Pandey was fired on July 18 due to a scandal involving the violation of the transfer rules and irregularities.

After severe anomalies in transfers in the Public Works Department came to light, Adityanath set up a high-level probe team under the leadership of Agriculture Production Commissioner Manoj Kumar Singh. The chief minister issued an immediate suspension order for the officers after the committee's report was sent in on July 16.

According to a senior official, the OSD for the minister was stripped of his duties as a result of complaints. The person further stated that Pandey was being returned to the central government and that an investigation had been recommended against him.

More than 150 transfers were made in the agency, according to department officials, and they appear to be "arbitrary." In certain circumstances, more than one official has been appointed to one post, while some engineers have received two posts.
