Lucknow: The bodies of two minor Dalit sisters were found hanging from a tree in a village under Nighasan in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, on September 14, 2022. In the police investigation, it was revealed that both of them were raped and murdered. After this incident, one of the two cheques given by Congress leaders to help the victim's family bounced.  

The cheques were handed over by a Congress delegation that went to meet the victim's family three days after the incident. The father of the deceased girl has informed that he had deposited these cheques in his bank account. Now the bank has told them that the cheque has bounced. The reason for this is said to be a matching signature. There have been a variety of reactions from those who know the victim's family in Lakhimpur about the cheque bouncing. Congress district president Prahlad Patel said the cheque bounce was due to technical reasons. He has said that the cheque amount will be received soon by the victim's family through online transactions.   

In this case, the UP Police arrested six accused. The accused have been identified as Junaid, Sohail, Arif, Hafiz, Karimuddin, and Chhote. Within 14 days of the incident, the police had also filed its chargesheet. The government had announced a compensation of Rs 25 lakh, a house, and a government job for the victim's family.
