Uttar Pradesh Government Greenlights Ambitious Rapid Rail Project

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has given the green light to a rapid rail project aimed at connecting Ghaziabad, Greater Noida, and Noida International Airport. Estimated to cost over Rs 15,000 crore, the project is slated to be completed in two phases by the year 2030. This initiative is expected to enhance connectivity across various sectors of Greater Noida and Noida while facilitating efficient travel to the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.

The approval for the project's feasibility report, prepared by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), was granted during a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary DS Mishra on Tuesday. The NCRTC has been instructed to draft a detailed project report for further evaluation.

The funding for the rapid rail project will be a collaborative effort between the central government, state government, and rail authorities. The Centre will contribute 20%, the Uttar Pradesh government 50%, and the remaining 30% will be invested by rail authorities.

The proposed rapid rail corridor is anticipated to stretch approximately 72 kilometers, connecting Ghaziabad, Greater Noida West, Surajpur, Ecotech, Kasna, Dankaur, Yamuna Authority sectors, and culminating at Noida International Airport. The elevated corridor is designed to encompass 16 stations, operating at a speed of 160 kmph.

The implementation of the Rapid Rail system is poised to significantly enhance transportation facilities for sectors in Ghaziabad and Greater Noida, establishing crucial connectivity across various regions.
