Lucknow: A major accident has taken place in Kasganj district of Uttar Pradesh. Here, a youth including four girls who took a bath at Lehra Gangaghat in Soron police station area has drowned in the Ganges. Hearing the screams, the divers on the spot rushed to save them, but none of the five could be detected. Police and district administration officials have also reached the ghat on receipt of the accident. The rescue operation is on, but no clue has been found so far.

According to media reports, some people came from the village of Kadarwadi under the Soron police station area to bathe in the Ganges. But when they started drowning in the strong flow of the Ganges, they started voicing their help. Hariom, an 18-year-old youth standing on the ghat, jumped into the Ganges to save them. But all five drowned. On receiving the information, police and district administration officials reached the spot and started the rescue operation, but as time goes on, their chances of meeting are also getting reduced.

The five missings in the Ganges river include Preeti (12) daughter Pappu, Pooja (10) daughter Ramdulare, Mamta (11) daughter Suresh, Rupa (12) daughter Jhabbu. In an attempt to save these girls, Hariom (18) son Jaggu also got swept away by the fast flow of Ganga. Police and administrative officials who reached the spot after receiving information about this incident are carrying out relief operations.
