New Delhi: West Bengal's ruling party Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee has met Union Home Minister Amit Shah. If sources are to be believed, there are speculations about this meeting that it is an attempt to save Rajiv Kumar, former Kolkata Police Commissioner. Kumar is on the CBI's target and is considered to be Banerjee's favorite officer.

After the meeting, West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee said that there has been no talk about the NRC in West Bengal with Home Minister Amit Shah. However, Mamata Banerjee has submitted a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah, in which she has appealed to give another chance to those who were left in NRC. West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee, who came on a three-day visit to Delhi, met PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday. He had said that these meetings are part of his regular process of meeting the Union Finance and Home Minister while coming to Delhi as the CM of a state.

Mamta Banerjee said that she does not have time to meet the Finance Minister, but she will definitely meet the Home Minister. Several TMC leaders and former Kolkata police commissioner Rajiv Kumar have been targeted by the CBI in the Ponzi scam case related to the Sharda group. Assembly elections in West Bengal are proposed in April-May 2021.
