Shimla: On the lines of Gujarat and Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh has now decided to include 'Bhagavad Gita' in the school curriculum. Himachal Pradesh Education Minister Govind Singh Thakur said that, 'CM Jai Ram Thakur has said that from this session, students of class 9th to 12th will be taught 'Srimad Bhagavad Gita' as a subject. Addressing the people in Mandi on Sunday (April 3, 2022), he said that this decision has been taken with the aim of making the students aware about their culture and to encourage them morally.

He said that 'Bhagavad Gita' will be taught in Sanskrit and Hindi languages ​​in schools. Along with this, the Himachal Pradesh government has also decided to start teaching Sanskrit from class 3rd. It is being told that the Education Minister had reached Mandi district on Sunday to lead a Jan Manch and listen to the grievances of the public. During this, he directed the officers to solve the problems of the people on priority basis. He said that through Jan Manch programme, the State Government has given a powerful platform to the public to get their grievances redressed at the earliest.

Let us inform that earlier in March 2022, under the National Education Policy, the Gujarat government had decided to teach Shrimad Bhagavad Gita to children from class 6 to 12 in schools. This order will be applicable in all the schools of Gujarat. Gujarat Education Minister Jitu Vaghani had announced this on March 17. Announcing this, Education Minister Jitu Vaghani had said that, 'Shrimad Bhagavad Gita will be in the form of stories and shlokas in class 6 to 8'. Whereas from class 9 to 12, this story and shlokas will be in the first language book.
