New Delhi: The family of an Indian nurse facing a death sentence in Yaman has moved to the Delhi High Court. The Delhi High Court has agreed to hear the matter. The petition, filed on behalf of the Save Nimisha Priya Foundation, has sought a court order for the Indian government to intervene with the Yemeni government through diplomatic channels. The matter was heard in the Delhi High Court today.

According to the information, Nimisha, a nurse from Kerala, was working in Yemen. Due to the civil war in 2016, movement out of the country was banned. Nimisha's husband and his daughter returned to India in 2014, but the nurses could not return. The nurse was then charged with the murder of a Yemeni national in July 2017. So on March 7, a court in Yemen upheld Nimisha's death sentence.

The petition, filed in the Delhi High Court, claimed that the deceased had physically and financially tortured the nurse and blocked her passport. In addition, she described herself as her husband in front of the Yemeni authorities. The victim's family said the victim could not get any help in the matter.
