Indore: Due to the lockdown, those who had no food arrangement got food from the administration and donors. But with the help of the district administration and donors, the Municipal Corporation is preparing to shut down the facility of free ration from June. On an average, 50 to 55 lakh rupees are being spent daily on this system, which is now overshadowing the administration. However, the matter of relief is that at present the administration will not stop the arrangement of free food. Under this preparation, the ration packets were reduced to the first 24 thousand and on Friday only 20 thousand packets have been given.

Officials believe that with the concessions in lockdown, it has become necessary to cut this facility. Discussions have been held between Collector Manish Singh and Municipal Commissioner Pratibha Pal in this regard. It has been decided at both levels that the facility of free ration should be discontinued. Probably from June 1, free ration will be stopped for the laborers and the poor.

Officials further say that instead of free ration, ready meals will be given now. If someone needs too much, the administration will also make arrangements for ration for him. This facility was started in March with the efforts of the then Municipal Commissioner Ashish Singh, due to which people started getting ration on a wide scale. Because of this, nowhere in the city people went out on the streets to eat. Under the leadership of Additional Commissioner of the Corporation Sandeep Soni, Superintending Engineer Mahesh Sharma and Deputy Commissioner Arun Sharma, the team was engaged in preparing and distributing ration packets day and night.
