HYDERABAD: A 9-year-old boy died after falling into a lift hole from the 4th floor of an apartment building in Raidurgam area on Sunday. Police said that the accident occurred due to the external safety grill of the lift not working properly. This is the third incident in Hyderabad so far this year of children falling into the elevator.

According to information received from sources, it has been learned that the incident took place around 5 pm on Sunday evening in the seven-storey TVS Lake View apartment of Panchwati Colony. Circle Inspector A Ravinder said, 'Dhanush, a 9-year-old boy, was playing in front of his apartment on the fourth floor. His sister was also with him at that time. At the time of the incident, Dhanush set foot to enter the lift but by then the lift had not come, so he fell into the shaft of the lift and later died on the spot by pressing under the lower lift.

So far, three children died: On receipt of confirmed information, police immediately reached the spot. Police has sent the dead body to the government hospital for postmortem. This is the third such incident in Hyderabad. In October, a 9-year-old girl was found trapped in an elevator in Hastinapuram North Extension Colony. In February, a 10-year-old child was trapped in the elevator grill in Balaji Nagar, he too lost his life in this accident.
