Facebook's Inaction on Abusive Content Targeting Hindu Deities

New Delhi: These days, it has become fashionable in Hindu-majority India to speak disrespectfully towards the Hindu religion. Some anti-social elements were already present in society, but the statements of politicians seem to be giving them more impetus. Whether it be Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Swami Prasad Maurya, or former education minister of Bihar Chandrashekhar, Hindu religion has been everyone's target for the past few days, and everyone has left no stone unturned in making lewd comments on one of the oldest religions in the world. Had strict instructions been given, perhaps the matter would not have come to this point. Now, Hindu Gods and Goddesses are being openly abused on social media platforms like Facebook.

In other words, Facebook immediately takes cognizance of hateful religious comments and even blocks the account, but when the Hindu religion is the target, then Facebook's duplicity becomes visible. One such Facebook page is going viral these days, in which abusive language and obscene pictures have been posted about the deities of Hindus, Mahadev, Shri Ram, and Mata Sita, but Facebook has not yet paid attention to it. There are so many derogatory things on this page that they cannot be written or even seen. Hundreds of such pages are present on social media, but no action is taken against them because the Hindu community does not take to the streets with slogans of 'Sar Tan Se Juda' and does not create a ruckus, hence perhaps it is not believed that their feelings get hurt. Politicians also do not see any vote bank in this, hence they also do not consider it necessary to raise this issue. Yes, if you break Hindus into pieces, they may agree, they will do politics of Dalit, OBC, Thakur, Bania, because they see benefit in this. It is also worth noting that their target is Hindu religion, which talks about Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the whole world is one family) and Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah (May all be happy), and also the statements of AAP politicians on other religions. Will not see. For example, when Maulvi Ilyas Sharafuddin describes Shivling as a private part, no politician opens his mouth, even the courts do not take suo motu cognizance and no action is taken.

Imagine if such a comment had been made about any other religion, then even politicians would have given full statements, debates would have been going on in the media, some so-called seculars would have started holding placards demanding action, there would have been a frenzied crowd on the streets. But, everyone is silent on this matter, because the target is the Hindu community, which is the majority in India, but its rights are probably less than that of the minorities. We urge the IT Ministry of the Government of India to take cognizance of such cases and take strict action against the culprits so that the country's communal harmony and faith of the majority community are not harmed.
