New Delhi: US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Secretary of Defense Mark Asper have reached Delhi on Sunday for 2 + 2 talks between India and the US. Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh welcomed him at the airport. Along with this, he was also given the Guard of Honor by the Indian Army.

The visit of the two ministers to South Asian countries just before the presidential election in the US is considered very important. The two US ministers will hold meetings with Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. India has great expectations from this 2 + 2 conversation. Actually, meetings between two ministers of two countries are called 2 + 2 meetings. It was drafted by Japan, after which many countries have imbibed it. The meeting promotes high level dialogue for defense cooperation. The first 2 + 2 talks between India and US took place in September 2018 while the second two-day talks were held in December 2019.

It is being told that talks can be held between the two ministers of the two countries on several important issues. The most important is the India-China border dispute. Although the United States has supported India from the beginning, this topic and other strategies can be discussed in this meeting.
