Amritsar: An incident of shame to humanity has come to light in Amritsar, Punjab on Saturday. The bodies of two newborn girls were found in the parking lot near Bebe Nanki Jacha-Bachcha Ward of Guru Nanak Dev Hospital in the wee hours of Saturday. The body of a girl was scratched by dogs. Police have seized the two bodies and rushed them for postmortem. Investigations have also been initiated to trace the throwers of these girls.

A hospital guard called the Majitha Road police station around 8 am on Saturday and told them that the bodies of two newborn girls were lying in the parking lot near Bebe Nanki ward. After which the police rushed to the spot. The body of one of the girls was dug in the ground while the body of the other girl was lying on the ground near her. Police seized the bodies of the two girls. One body was badly scratched by the dogs. A preliminary investigation revealed that two girls were thrown away immediately after the birth of a person.

Several police teams are investigating the case. On the one hand, records of deliveries in the Bebe Nanki ward during the last 24 hours are being seized and scanned, while on the other hand, footage of every CCTV on the spot is being taken into custody. The Inspector-in-charge of Majitha Road police station Gurmeet Singh said that the postmortem of the two girls is being conducted. At present, a compilation has been registered against the unidentified and the accused will be arrested very soon.
