Angelina Jolie's casting for Eternals was a big coup for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially considering the Academy Award winner's recent production reduction. Chloé Zhao's cosmic blockbuster is her second in seven months, after Warner Bros.' thriller Those Who Wish Me Dead. Prior to that, she had only acted in four live-action films in the previous eleven years.

We shouldn't expect Jolie to get much screen time given the size of the cast and the fact that Gemma Chan's Sersi has already been dubbed the closest thing Eternals has to the main character. She'll most likely have an action sequence or two, something she's shown to be more than capable of in her previous roles.

However, according to a fresh report, Jolie has not only signed a "huge" contract with Marvel Studios but she is also being considered for her own solo film. For the time being, there's no actual evidence to back any of this up, so it's just speculation, but a multi-picture contract wouldn't be unusual in the least.

Even if Marvel has no plans to use them, the vast majority of onscreen talents are locked in for a handful of outings right out of the gate, just in case, they’re needed again later on down the line in future projects. If Eternals hits big then it’s almost guaranteed to get at least a sequel or two, but a standalone Thena adventure is a lot less of a sure thing at this stage.
