Chennai: The Anti-Terrorism Squad is now going to be established in Tamil Nadu. State CM M.K. Stalin announced this on Friday. He said that an anti-terrorism squad with more than 380 personnel would be set up in the Intelligence Branch of the Tamil Nadu Police at a cost of Rs 57.51 crore in the state.
CM M.K. Stalin said the uniform allowance for police personnel will be increased to Rs 4,500 annually and Rs 515 per month, respectively. In one of the announcements made in the assembly during the debate on the demand for grants for the police department, the chief minister said a special cell would be set up to receive and investigate cases filed under the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Protection of Depositors Interest (In Financial Establishments) Act, 1997, at a cost of Rs. 27.11 crore.
Stalin further said that, in view of the increasing number of scams related to cryptocurrencies, the 'Chain Analysis Reactor Tool for Cryptocurrencies' will be acquired at an expense of Rs 1 crore. The 'Chain Analysis Reactor Tool for Cryptocurrencies' is expected to aid in the investigation of such scams and help trace the source and location of cryptocurrencies.
