Shimla: The APMC Act -2020 has been brought to double the income of farmers and gardeners of the state of Himachal Pradesh. This step has been taken to overcome the challenges faced in marketing of crops. With this, farmers will be able to sell their crops anywhere at a good price. Private mandis can also be opened in the state. Total 258 agricultural and horticultural crops can be sold in mandis.

They include wheat, pulses, oilseeds, rice, spices, flowers and seeds etc. Agriculture Minister Virendra Kanwar introduced the Himachal Pradesh Agricultural Produce Marketing Bill -2020 in the House on Wednesday. Now the agricultural crop will be free to sell in any state. There were no such arrangements in the past. Healthy competition in agro-processing, marketing and increasing agricultural exports will be encouraged.

Also, cold and CA stores will be made for farmers and gardeners. No fee will be charged from those who sell agricultural crops. This will be taken from the license holders of the market. There will be 16 members in the market committee. Among them, there will be DC Vice President and ten non-official members. The member under the age of 25 will not be able to become a member of the committee. Members should not be involved in any matter. The member of the committee chairman will be selected. The vice president will be able to use his power if the post of the president becomes vacant. The Chairman cannot remain non-attendant for three consecutive meetings. The farmers will get a lot of profit from this decision, along with this decision can prove to be effective for the farmers.
