New Delhi: Every year on January 10, World Hindi Day is celebrated all over the world. This day is very special for Indians. It was first celebrated on January 10, 2006. When the then Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh announced to celebrate World Hindi Day on 10 January. Since then, World Hindi Day is celebrated every year on 10 January. Its main goal is to give Hindi the status of an international language. Along with this, Hindi has to be taken to the masses. At present, PM Narendra Modi also gives speeches in the Hindi language on the world stage. Earlier, late PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee had given a speech in the United Nations in Hindi. 

Hindi Day and World Hindi Day are celebrated on two different dates. World Hindi Day is celebrated on 10 January. Whereas, Hindi Day is celebrated on 14 September. Vyauhar Rajendra Singh, the great litterateur of Hindi, worked hard to make Hindi the national language. Due to his hard work and struggle, Hindi could become the official language of India. Vyohar Rajendra Singh was born on September 14, 1900 in Jabalpur, MP. Taking serious cognizance of his efforts, the Constituent Assembly unanimously decided on September 14, 1949, that Hindi would be the official language of the country. This day was also the 50th birthday of Vyohar Rajendra Singh. Kaka Kalelkar, Maithili Sharan Gupt, Hazariprasad Dwivedi, and Seth Govinddas have also played an important role in making Hindi the national language.

On this day World Hindi Day is celebrated in the embassies of India all over the world. Where cultural functions are organized for the promotion of Hindi. Along with this, World Hindi is celebrated with enthusiasm in many schools and colleges. Many people come forward to talk about the importance of the Hindi language and Indian culture. Schools host Hindi debates, poetry and storytelling competitions, and cultural events on Hindi Day.

Apart from India, Hindi is also spoken in these countries:-

Pakistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Myanmar, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, China, Japan, UK, Germany, New Zealand, South Africa, Mauritius, Yemen, Uganda and Trinidad and Tobago, Canada, etc. There is a sizeable number of Hindi speakers. Apart from this, there are many people living in England, America, and Central Asia who speak and understand Hindi.
