Apart from eating, roaming, and dressing, the streets of Banaras are also known for spirituality. Well today we are going to tell you a special recipe related to the cuisine of Banaras and that is Banarasi Tomato Chaat. In fact, you will not find this delicious dish filled with ghee and sour-sweet taste anywhere else than in Banaras. And if you want to eat it, then you have to go straight to the streets of Banaras. However, today we are going to tell you the recipe by which you can make Banarasi Tomato Chaat.

Ingredients for making Banarasi tomato chaat-
Tomatoes – 5-6
Potatoes – 4 boiled
Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
Cumin powder – 1 tsp
Tamarind – 1 tbsp (paste)
Ghee – 3 tbsp
Poppy seeds – 2 tsp
Ginger – 2 tsp (grated)
Cashews – 10 (grated)
Green chillies – 3 (finely chopped)
Chaat Masala – 2 tsp
Garam Masala – 1 tsp
Turmeric – 1 tsp
Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
Sugar – 4 tbsp
Onions – 1 finely chopped
Coriander leaves – 1/2 cup
Black salt – 1 tsp
Plain salt – to taste

Method of making Banarasi tomato chaat - First of all, finely chop the tomatoes. Heat 2 tbsp ghee in a pan, add ginger, green chilli, poppy seeds and cashew nuts and fry for 2 minutes. After this, now add turmeric, red chillies and a little cumin powder and immediately after that add chopped tomatoes to it. Add salt to the tomato and cover and let it cook. When the tomatoes start to melt, add one and a half cups of water to it and allow it to ripen until the water and the tomatoes are together.

Mash the boiled potatoes and add it to the tomato mixture. When the tomatoes and potatoes are well mixed, add garam masala, chaat masala, cumin powder, black-plain salt and tamarind paste. Now put 3 cups of water in a pot and add sugar in it and let the sauce be ready. When the sugar syrup is ready, add half a tsp of cumin powder to it and make it into a gas. In the pot in which the chaat is to be served, add hot tomato chaat. Add ghee from the top. Add as much sweetness as you want in the chaat, add as much syrup from the top. Finally garnish with onions, and coriander leaves. By the way, if you want, you can also put the sea salt from the top. Take the tomato chaat is ready.
