'Beverly Hills Cop' star Eddie Murphy to receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award

LOS ANGELES: Eddie Murphy, star of "Beverly Hills Cop," will be presented with the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the upcoming 80th Golden Globe Awards, according to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).

According to People magazine, the 61-year-old actor had already received six Golden Globe nominations, including new star of the year in 1983 for the movie "48 Hrs." The films "Trading Places," "The Nutty Professor," "Dreamgirls," and "Dolemite Is My Name" received his additional acting nominations.

Eddie Murphy, an iconic and highly renowned actor, will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award this year, the HFPA's Helen Hoehne revealed in a press release that People was able to access. We are overjoyed to be honouring the enduring influence that his career, both in front of and behind the camera, has had over the years on film and television. The "Coming 2 America" actor next co-stars with Jonah Hill in the Netflix comedy "You People," and he is now developing the prequel "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley."

According to People, former winners of the Cecil B. DeMille Award, which is chosen by the HFPA Board of Directors, include Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, Robin Williams, Oprah Winfrey, Jane Fonda, Morgan Freeman, Harrison Ford, and Jodie Foster.

The forthcoming awards ceremony will be hosted by comedian Jerrod Carmichael. The 2023 Golden Globe Awards will be broadcast live on NBC and Peacock on Tuesday, January 10, from 5-8 p.m. PST/8-11 p.m. EST.
