Patna: The date of the Bihar Legislative Council elections has been announced. Voting will take place on April 4, 2022, while counting will take place on April 7. On Wednesday, the Election Commission of Bihar has also given an official report. According to the information provided by the commission, the date of voting has been fixed as April 4. 

The notification for the Legislative Council elections will be issued on March 9. Along with this, the process of nomination will also start. Candidates will be able to file their nominations till March 16, while the scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on March 17. Names can be withdrawn till March 21. Polling day has been kept on 4th April. For the 24 seats of the Legislative Council where elections are to be held, the Grand Alliance and the NDA have already announced their candidates. After the announcement of the dates, now the activity of the candidates will increase.

Let us tell you that the distribution of seats has been done regarding the elections. In Bihar NDA, Bharatiya Janata Party has got 12 seats, JDU 11 and RLJP one seat. The 12 seats that the Bharatiya Janata Party has got include Rohtas, Aurangabad, Saran, Siwan, Darbhanga, East Champaran, Kisanganj, Katihar, Saharsa, Gopalganj, Begusarai and Samastipur. The 11 seats that JDU has got include Patna, Bhojpur, Gaya, Nalanda, Muzaffarpur, West Champaran, Sitamarhi, Bhagalpur, Munger, Nawada and Madhubani. While RLJP has one seat Vaishali Misa. At the same time, RJD has announced 21 candidates out of 24 seats in the Bihar Legislative Council elections to support the upper caste votes of the BJP. This time a Bhumihar candidate has been fielded in one-fourth of the seats. Rashtriya Janata Dal has nominated upper castes in 10 out of 21 seats. The party has fielded 5 Bhumihar, 4 Rajput and one Brahmin caste candidate among the upper castes.
