Former Australia fast bowler Brett Lee wished former India captain MS Dhoni on his retirement from the international cricket and said that he has a lot of respect for Dhoni after the on-field battle. Dhoni's sudden retirement on Saturday evening startled everyone. Lee tweeted, "Congratulations @msdhoni on an outstanding career. We definitely had our battles on the field but upmost respect off it."

Under Mahi's captaincy, India won the title of the first edition of the T20 World Cup held in South Africa in 2007. After which, under the leadership of Mahi, India has won the title of One Day World Cup in 2011 after 28 years. In 2013, under the captaincy of Dhoni, India also won the title of ICC Champions Trophy in England. Dhoni became the first captain to win all three ICC titles.

The fastest behind the wicket, Mahi has 195 international stumpings, the most stumping by any wicket-keeper. Dhoni has played 350 ODIs in which 183 runs against Sri Lanka is his highest score. In December 2014, Dhoni announced his retirement from the Test and gave Wriddhiman Saha an opportunity to come forward. Mahi has played 90 Tests in his Test career and has scored 4,876 runs at an average of 38.09.
