Kolkata: A day after the murder of former Samajwadi Party (SP) MP and mafia member Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf, a candle march was taken out in Islampur in West Bengal's North Dinajpur district, ruled by CM Mamata Banerjee. On Sunday (April 16) evening, a religious organisation called Raza Islamic Mission' took out a march for mafias in Ramganj market in Islampur. For this, a poster was also issued by the Islamic organisation on social media. It was said in the poster that this march is against the UP Police and Gundaraj.

The information about the candlelight march taken out by the Islamic organisation in support of Atiq and Ashraf came to light through a Facebook post on Monday (April 17). In fact, pictures of the candle march have been posted on the Facebook page of Raza Islamic Mission Ramganj. The Islamic Mission wrote with these pictures, 'The book will remain simple for a long time, Kabhi to Aagaz-e-Bab Hoga. Those who destroyed the colony, someday they will be accounted for.

The post further read that the members of the Islamic Mission, wearing black bands on their faces, took out a candle march 'against the custodial killing of ex-MP Atiq Ahmed by terrorists of the Bajrang Dal, RSS, and Vishwa Hindu Parishad. On this occasion, Head of Islamic Mission Asjad Raza said that the UP government has not only killed two people but has also killed Jamhooriyat (democracy).

However, it is also worth noting that no one threw a stone at this march taken out in support and honour of the mafia. Whereas, recently, there was heavy stone-pelting in Muslim areas during the processions taken out on Ram Navami and Hanuman Janmotsav. The Calcutta High Court had also accepted that the attack on the processions was planned well in advance because stones were thrown at the people taking out the procession from the rooftops, and in 10 to 15 minutes, such a quantity of stones were deposited on the rooftops. It is not possible to do; they were already deposited. Along with this, the court also raised questions about the role of the police during the violence. After seeing this whole incident, a big question arises: can a rally be held in support of the mafia in CM Mamta's Bengal, but if the procession takes place, it will be attacked?
