Amrawati: On Thursday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu compared former chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy to the infamous Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. While presenting a White Paper in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, Naidu remarked, "I am the senior-most politician in the country and I have never seen a situation like it was in Andhra when Jagan was in power. There was only one person who can compare to what happened in Andhra, drug lord Pablo Escobar."

Naidu elaborated on Escobar's background, stating, "Pablo Escobar is a Colombian drug lord, a narco-terrorist. He turned politician and then started his cartel to sell drugs. He earned $30 billion at that time, which is worth $90 billion now. He was arrested in 1976 and by 1980, he became the world's richest drug lord."

Drawing a parallel to Jagan Mohan Reddy, Naidu said, "One can become richer by selling drugs as well. What was the aim of the former chief minister (Jagan)? Tata, Reliance, Ambani have money, and he aspired to become richer than them. Few have needs, few have greed, and few have mania, and these maniacs do these kinds of things."

Naidu criticized the law and order situation in Andhra Pradesh during Jagan's tenure, claiming, "You would have seen what kind of law and order situation was prevalent in Andhra Pradesh when Jagan was in power." He also labeled Andhra Pradesh as the "Ganja capital" of the country under Jagan's rule, stating, "Ganja is easily available in every single village in Andhra Pradesh now. Has the former chief minister addressed the issue even once during his tenure?"

Addressing the youth, Naidu urged them not to destroy their families and expressed his determination to control the drug issue, promising, "We're determined to control this issue and nip it in the bud. It will happen soon."

Naidu accused YSRCP leaders of "terrorizing people" while in power and recalled the murder of YSRCP MLC Ananta Satya Udaya Bhaskar's driver in 2022 as an example of the lawlessness. He described how the driver was killed and his body "door delivered" to his house. Ananta Bhaskar was later arrested in May 2023 for allegedly murdering his driver and attempting to stage the death as an accident.

Naidu further alleged that the YSRCP committed "atrocities" against over 300 people from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, citing numerous instances of killings and harassment during their tenure. He also accused the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government of targeting TDP leaders with numerous cases, including 17 against himself.

Additionally, Naidu claimed that the YSRCP government "stifled the media," stating, "Cases were slapped on them, and media personnel were dragged to police stations," adding that several reporters were harassed during that time.
