Shahjahanpur: The culprit of gang rape in Upazila's Shahjahanpur after 27 years has been arrested. The victim was only 12 years old at the time of the gang rape. After 28 years, the Uttar Pradesh Police not only registered an FIR but also arrested the culprit and sent him to jail. City Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar said that in 1994, a 12-year-old minor was gang-raped by two brothers. Subsequently, the victim also gave birth to a son.

When the son asked his mother the father's name, he came to know the reality of the case and he resorted to the law to get justice for his mother. An FIR of the incident was registered at Thana Sadar Bazar on March 4, 2021. One of the two criminals, Guddu Hasan, has been arrested, while Naki Hasan is on the run. Mohammed Raazi alias Guddu Hasan, 48, was living in Hyderabad. Police said the location of his brother Naki Hasan has been traced somewhere in Odisha.

The police have assured to arrest him soon. Inspector Dharmendra Gupta said the arrested criminal had confessed to his crime and said he never expected the case to reopen after so many years. The woman was an acquaintance of the two brothers and their family, whom they had gang-raped several times. After the birth of her son, she was forced to leave him. At the same time, she was threatened that it would not be good if she lodged an FIR. But then, the same son grew up and began to try to find the culprits and fought a legal battle. An FIR was lodged on the court's order. Shahjahanpur SSP S Anand said the complaint seemed to be corroborated, but the names and addresses of the culprits were not clear. He said that since the woman had suffered a lot in her childhood, the police started making efforts to get justice. After a lot of investigation, it was found that the culprits were living in the Haddaf area of the city, but they refused to even recognize the victim. After this, in July 2021, the sample was sent for a DNA test, the results of which came positive in July 2022. Mohammed Razi turned out to be the boy's biological father. By then, the two brothers had fled. The police were searching. The surveillance team helped a lot in this. Razi, who works at a thermal power plant in Hyderabad, was again caught. After coming to know of the incident, the victim's husband, who hails from Ghazipur, had also left her. The child who had taken place after the gang rape was handed over to a man living in Udhampur Hardoi. The woman was living in Lucknow. The son searched for his mother and when he asked for his father's name, he came to know about the incident. So, after about three decades, the case opened. Police are on the lookout for Naqi Hasan.
