New Delhi: Tensions have been continuing between India and China in eastern Ladakh since early May. Meanwhile, a soldier of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) has been arrested by the Indian Army on Monday. The PLA has also confirmed that one of its soldiers had gone missing from the border on Sunday night. After the Indian Army captures its soldiers, China has requested the army to return its soldiers according to protocol.

On Monday, the army said that it had captured a PLA soldier from the Demchok region of eastern Ladakh, who was identified as a colonel. The Chinese soldier was caught when he 'wandered' into Indian territory on the Line of Actual Control (LAC). This incident happened at a time when both countries have deployed troops in the area over the border dispute. The Indian Army said in a statement on Monday that the Chinese soldier has been identified as Corporal Wang or Lang. The army said that after completing all the formalities, the Chinese soldier would be handed back to the PLA.

Senior Colonel Zhang Shuili, a spokesman for PLA's 'Western Theater Command', said in a statement on Monday night, 'China hopes to help bring back a yak at the request of local shepherds in the evening of October 18 to China-India. India will soon return the stray Chinese soldier in the border area.'
