Guwahati: Supreme Court Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi has expressed concern over the growing aggression among people and groups. The Chief Justice was speaking at an event after laying the foundation stone of the auditorium of the Guwahati High Court. "It is unfortunate that at present some people and groups are seeing "aggressive and negligent behaviour".

"I hope such incidents will be exceptions and will always help our stakeholders to overcome the strong traditions and ethos of such despotists," Gogai said. The CJI said that unlike government offices or establishments, the courts are unique because many stakeholders gather every day to advance the wheel of justice, even if they are not bound by a single order.

He expressed hope that the country's legal institutions will be able to defeat such "despot" elements. "Today, I am compelled to say that judges and judicial officers must remember that the trust and confidence of the people on which our institution exists is based on our orders and decisions. "This is a diversity of race, religion, culture that pose specific challenges to the High Court and the subordinate courts of these areas," the Chief Justice said. ''
