NEW DELHI: The number of new Covid infections in India fell to 13,166 in a 24-hours, down from 14,148 the day before, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.In the same timespan, the virus took 302 lives, bringing the total death toll to 5,13,226.
Meanwhile, active Covid cases have decreased to 1,34,235, accounting for 0.31 percent of all cases in the country. The recovery of 26,988 patients in the last 24 hours has brought the total number of patients recovered to 4,22,46,884. As a result, India's recovery rate is now at 98.49%, according to the Union Health Ministry. A total of 10,30,016 tests were conducted across the country within the same time period, bringing the total number of tests to over 76.45 crore. The weekly positivity rate is now 1.48 percent, while the daily positivity rate is at 1.28 percent.
As of Friday morning, India's Covid inoculation coverage had reached 176.86 crore, thanks to the delivery of nearly 32.04 million vaccine doses in the last 24 hours. The states and union territories still have more than 11.02 crore in unspent Covid vaccination doses, according to the ministry.
